The trade deadline is rapidly approaching and the Ducks are in an interesting position. They are most likely to be sellers, however, if the Ducks continue to win a lot of games and close in on the playoffs, then they might be keeping more players than if they were to be sellers. Here’s somethings to keep an eye on.

Ducks Defense Gives Game to Columbus Blue Jackets

AUTHOR: | IN: Ducks, Game Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

The title says it all. The Anaheim Ducks defense gave the game away to the Columbus Blue Jackets, allowing them to win 3-2 (OT). All three goals were due to the Ducks defense being non-existent. Teemu Selanne again had a phenomenal performance, scoring both of the Ducks goals. The Jackets never gave up and were rewarded with two points. Selanne opened up the scoring with a tip-in from a Lubo slap shot just over 1 minute into the game. After that it was a pretty slow period. The Ducks out shot the Blue Jackets 10-6. Columbus tied it up in the [...]

Anaheim Ducks Player of the Month: January

AUTHOR: | IN: Ducks, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m planning to try a new addition to the blog here. At the beginning of each month, I will choose who I think was the player of the previous month. So here goes. The month of January was cut a bit short due to the All-Star Game, but I think there was one player who shined. My player of the month goes to Jason Blake.  Blake was injured for most of the season and he finally returned to the Ducks lineup at the beginning of January. Blake came back, and the Ducks started winning. It could have been a coincidence, [...]

Dallas Stars Dominate the Ducks….Again

AUTHOR: | IN: Ducks, Game Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Anaheim Ducks continue to struggle when facing the Dallas Stars, losing 6-2. It was an overall dominating performance from the Stars, who controlled the entire game. The Ducks played extremely lazy and allowed Dallas to run all over them. Anaheim’s defense was again a huge problem, showing a huge hole in the Ducks game. The Ducks started off great, and got on board early when Matt Beleskey scored. The Stars retailiated late in the period and scored three goals from Eric Nystrom, Vernon Fiddler and Jamie Benn. Nystrom’s goal was pretty lucky considering Hiller was screened by about [...]

A Flawed System?

AUTHOR: | IN: Ducks, Regular Season | COMMENTS: None Yet

Take a look at the current Conference Standings…notice something off? The Washington Capitals are in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference with 56 points. The 8th seed Toronto Maple Leafs also have 56 points… The reason Washington is in third place is because they are 1st in the Southeast Division and the first three seeds are given to the division leaders. The same thing goes for the San Jose Sharks who are in 3rd place with 62 points. Points wise, they should be in 7th place. This is not the first time this has been an issue and it won’t [...]

Now That It’s Over….

AUTHOR: | IN: Ducks, Popular, Regular Season | COMMENTS: None Yet

Now that the All-Star Game is over and the break is winding down, the Anaheim Ducks are in for a tough rest of the season. The stretch after the All-Star break is always the toughest and now is the crucial time to start winning and move into playoff contention for the Ducks. Meanwhile, other teams will be trying to hold onto their spot. The Ducks have 34 games left in the season, and every single game counts. They currently have 43 points, and they need roughly 95 points to make the 8th seed. That would mean they have to win [...]

Corey Perry Wins Most Creative In Breakaway Challenge

AUTHOR: | IN: Ducks, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

Corey Perry may have not won the breakaway challenge at the 2012 NHL All-Star Skills Competition, but he definitely was the most creative. On his last turn, Perry moved slowly towards the goal, stopped and pulled of his gloves and threw his stick to the side. He then pulled a miniature ice hockey stick from under his jersey and scored. Check out Perry’s move here. Patrick Kane ended up winning the challenge, but Perry’s move was awesome nonetheless.
