UPDATE: To watch the Wisniewski hit on Doan, click here.
A surprisingly energetic Ducks team played well enough to earn a point but ran out of steam against a Phoenix Coyotes team that turned up the intensity after a big hit by James Wisniewski on Shane Doan. Doan was bleeding from the face and woozy as he tried to stand up after the open-ice hit, but later returned to the game and played well for the Coyotes, helping them to a 3-2 shootout victory.
The play occurred as Doan was carrying the puck up the neutral zone in the first period. Doan seemed to [...]

Ducks Lose in Shootout, 3-2
Halloween Hockey for Ducks
The last time the Ducks had a game on Halloween, exactly one year ago, it was one of the wildest games I’ve ever seen. It was a back-and-forth game with multiple lead changes thateventually ended in a 13-round shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks, with a final score of 7-6. Will we see anything like that tonight?
We can only hope.
The Ducks will take on a very confident Phoenix Coyotes team that is over-achieving compared to what most analysts originally thought. But with a new coach and solid goaltending, the ‘Yotes are finding hockey much more enjoyable in the desert, regardless of the [...]
Ducks Destroy Canucks, 7-2
After another terrible start to the game, the Ducks were able to make an impressive comeback, and then some, to blow out the Canucks on home ice. Vancouver started the game with a goal just 66 seconds into the game, then scored again on the power play just minutes later to take a 2-0 lead with less than five minutes gone in the game. But the Ducks didn’t give up as the teams’ star players were all over the scoresheet.
The Ducks’ scoring started when Ryan Getzlaf got the puck at the offensive blue line before chipping a pass to Joffrey [...]

Michael Jackson and Hockey?
I must give kudos to Mr. Curtis Zupke at the Orange County Register for posting an article that is short, effective, and actually made me laugh when I read it. It’s not so much what he said, but what he wrote about that was so hilarious. The Bakersfield Condors, the Ducks’ ECHL affiliate, will put on special jerseys and one white glove to honor Michael Jackson. I mean come on….seriously?
It’s definitely worth a read, so click here.
The Ducks will finally get back to work after having three full days off following one of the worst losses imaginable. I’m of course referring to the Ducks’ defeat at the hands of a team that hadn’t yet won a game, the Toronto Maple Leafs. But the team has pushed that aside and will look to get back on the right track tonight at Honda Center against the Canucks.
It doesn’t seem like there will be any changes to personnel but Coach Randy Carlyle always keeps the media guessing until game time, so it would be useless to speculate. Ryan Carter [...]

Ducks Sign Kyle Calder
In an attempt to change the Ducks’ fortunes this season, GM Bob Murray has decided to add veteran Kyle Calder to the Ducks’ lineup as he signed the free-agent to a one-year, two-way contract that will pay him $500,000 in the NHL and $105,000 in the minors. Calder was immediately assigned to Bakersfield of the ECHL, probably to get back into game shape as he hasn’t been playing professionally since the pre-season.
This is a good, low-cost move by Murray as he tries to find a remedy for a Ducks team that has turned in some lackluster performances in recent games. Calder will bring a [...]
